Follow us as we do Baby Led Weaning, an alternative to stuff in a jar or even the simple option of making your own baby food.
With our daughter we did around 50+ % baby led weaning, but with our son it will be around 90%.
What is Baby Led Weaning?
With the introduction of solids, one begins to wean their baby from the breast. However, it should be done extremely slowly and with knowledge that international medical groups recommend breastfeeding for at least the first two years, and the AAP recommends a minimum of one year. Almost all medical groups recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months, meaning no solids before that point.
Baby led weaning allows a family to introduce real foods to their babies, that are nutritious, whole, and easy!
First foods via baby led weaning (BLW) often are:
-
avacado
-
banana
-
ripe peaches
-
ripe pears
Until a year old, breastmilk should be the primary source of nutrients and calories for your baby.
